Diamond Certification Education: What You Should Know
Whether you ultimately purchase your stone from National Diamond Brokers or not, it is our utmost concern to ensure you have the essential data you need to make an informed decision.
Before purchasing any diamond, it is vital that you be given the opportunity to review the stone’s certificate. This certificate contains all of the diamond’s unique specifications and provides unquestionable proof that an unbiased examination by a licensed professional has been completed. More than simply reviewing the certificate, however, you should also have the background to independently evaluate what the certificate means. As such, we have collected some of the most important questions surrounding diamond certification and provided the answers below:
What is a diamond certificate?
Prepared by a team of gemologists who have evaluated the stone at a microscopic level, a diamond certificate will provide detailed analysis of the stone’s dimensions, clarity, color, polish, symmetry, and, in the case of round diamonds, the cut grade.
Diamond certificate may also be called diamond grading reports, a diamond dossier® or a diamond quality document.
Are National Diamond Brokers’ diamonds certified?
Yes. Either the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or the American Gem Society Laboratories (AGSL) has certified every loose diamond sold by National Diamond Brokers. Two of the most respected and reputable institutions in the diamond industry, the GIA and AGSL are renowned for both their consistency and unbiased expertise. In fact, diamonds that have been evaluated by the GIA and AGSL are more highly valued than any other stones.
To further enhance your experience with National Diamond Brokers, we also provide GCAL certification for each of our stones. As an independent second opinion, GCAL certification ensures that each stone we carry meets our exacting quality requirements.
Can I view certificates online?
